the brief:
PL Consultancy had an inherited business name which didn't in any way convey or communicate the services they provided. No matter how they communicated with potential new customers the first thing they had to do was explain who they were and what they did. They were fighting for recognition of their great service in a market with strongly branded competitors.
the answer:
Having researched and assessed the market, core competition and the opportunities available to position the company in a distinctive way that was easy to communicate; we established that at the heart of everything PL Consultancy did was 'compliance control'. Whilst many of PL Consultancy's competitors also provide compliance control - and mentioned it in their marketing - no-one used it as their positioning and critically the .com (compliancecontrol.com) domain was available. We therefore re-named and re-branded the company as Compliance Control with the distinctive positioning statement 'controlling compliance matters' from which they have gone from strength to strength.
