It’s no surprise that the impact of coronavirus has had an unprecedented effect on our local pubs, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Lockdown affected businesses of all sizes all over the world, and Macclesfield is no exception. As local businesses start to reopen, and our local economy begins to rebuild, the government has launched the new “Eat Out To Help Out” scheme which encourages people to get out and support local venues by eating out.
While a lot of national chains such as Nando’s, Subway and Starbucks were the first to sign up to the scheme, there are also a number of great independent venues who are also taking part.
It’s no secret that we love our food at W&C, and we are also massive champions of local businesses, so we’ve put together some of our favourite places to eat around Macclesfield who are participating in the scheme. (You can find the Government’s official list of participating restaurants here and search by your postcode.)

Coffee Traders is always a good choice for a relaxed and friendly sit in baked potato or sandwich. They've been part of Macclesfield for many years and never disappoint. Alternatively, if you fancy a nice pasta lunch with a glass of wine, you can't go wrong with Fina - For a guy who never goes out for lunch, I almost sound as though I know these places!

Lord of the Pies; Pie. Mash. Gravy. Mushy peas. For lunch! What's not to like?
Chloe
My local cafe recommendation is Gastown, they do really good vegetarian cooked breakfasts (served until 2) and everyone knows that breakfast food is the best food!

Conveniently located at the entrance to the Grosvenor Centre the Coffee Beans Cafe is my go-to lunch venue. There’s a great range of freshly made items to take away from the deli counter and an area to sit in if the mood takes. Great value for money!

Simply Scrummy is my go-to place for lunch. The staff are always friendly and it’s the sort of place where they remember your name and usual order, so you can do the cliche "I'll have the usual please!" And of course the sandwiches are simply scrummy.

My choice of local restaurant (and favourite restaurant in general!) has to be Chilli Banana. The curries are incredible and the staff are always so warm and welcoming.
Tim
Tim's also a big Chilli Banana fan, and says their three curry option is always interesting!
